Photovoltaic systems
1.1.1 Funded measures
Funding is available for the new installation or expansion of permanently installed, grid-connected photovoltaic systems. A maximum of 50 kilowatt peak (kWp) of a photovoltaic system is subsidised.
1.1.2 Special provisions
Systems with individual modules for on-roof and in-roof installation, solar roof tiles and façade systems are subsidised.
1.1.3 Amount of the grant
- 300 euros per kWp up to 10 kWp
- 250 Euro per kWp over 10 kWp up to 50 kWp

1.4.3 Amount of the grant
- a maximum of 300 euros per residential/Commercial unit
- Maximum 600 euros per residential unit for holders of a valid Cologne Pass

Application and authorisation procedure
General Eligibility requirements:
- Measures on (registered) architectural monuments and buildings in the local area of application of a Monument area statutes can be subsidised, provided that approval has been granted by the Lower Monument Authority.
- Measures whose implementation is based on a legal obligation or official order are not subsidised.
- Own work and material costs incurred in the process are not included due to the necessary quality assurance. Eligible. Only supplies and services from specialised companies will be considered. Private implementation of the measures applied for funding by Specialist tradesmen The property can be returned to them, whereby only material costs can be claimed.
- The use of used products is not permitted due to the necessary quality assurance. Eligible.
- The operation of Island systems without connection to the public grid is not subsidised.
According to the City of Cologne, it has been possible to submit applications for three new funding programmes for the renovation of residential buildings and the installation of photovoltaic systems on residential and commercial properties since 2 October 2023.
