- A total of 150 million euros will be available for the age-appropriate conversion programme in 2024 (2023: 75 million euros).
- Investment grants are used to subsidise structural measures in residential buildings that reduce barriers in existing homes.
- Typical modernisation measures include the installation of a level-access shower, the removal of door thresholds or the installation of lifts.
- For individual measures, KfW awards grants amounting to 10 per cent of the eligible costs (max. 2,500 euros). Anyone who converts their home to the "age-appropriate home" standard is reimbursed 12.5 per cent of the eligible costs (max. EUR 6,250) by KfW.
- Private builders and tenants can submit their funding application online in the KfW grant portal before the start of the project.
