PlusEnergieQuartier Oberursel research project launched
Federal funding approved - City of Oberursel, TU Darmstadt and project developer HOCHTIEF Solutions formart work together
In Oberursel, HOCHTIEF Solutions formart and the Technical University (TU) Darmstadt, Department of "Design and Energy-Efficient Building", are implementing the research project "PlusEnergieQuartier Oberursel": A mixed urban quarter with a positive energy balance is to be created on the site at Zimmersmühlenweg, which has lain fallow for 20 years. The quarter, with about 150 flats and commercial use, is to cover its energy needs from its own regenerative sources and also be able to supply energy to the surrounding area. The development plan for the three-hectare site is being drawn up in cooperation with the city of Oberursel. Other partners are the Oberursel public utility company and the Hausladen engineering firm from Kirchheim. The aim of the research work at the TU Darmstadt is to develop and test a viable concept as a basis for the planning, realisation and operation of future plus-energy neighbourhoods. The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology will fund this pilot project in the EnEff:Stadt research initiative (Research for the Energy-Efficient City) with one million euros.
